Arjun Kafle
Postdoctoral Researcher
Dr. Arjun Kafle originally belongs to a small agrarian country, Nepal. He received his B.S. in Agriculture from Tribhuvan University in 2016. After his graduation, he served as an agriculture instructor in a community school to sharpen his teaching abilities. He came to the United States in 2018 for higher studies and completed his M.S. from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Agricultural and Environmental Systems in 2020. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Plant and Soil Science from Texas Tech University in 2024. Just after graduation, he joined Dr. Katie Lewis lab as a postdoctoral researcher to widen his research competence in regenerative agriculture in semi-arid regions.
Dr. Kafle research focus areas include plant physiology, irrigation management, nutrient management, soil amendments, soil water, vegetable and row crops, controlled environment crop production, industrial hemp, soil health, greenhouse gases and environmental quality. His aim is to stay in academia with research, teaching and extension responsibilities to help farmers in optimizing farm practices while conserving water and soil.
Dr. Kafle has received many awards from departments, colleges, universities, national and international organizations for his academic and research accomplishments, leadership and service in the field. He was recognized as one of the ASHS Outstanding Graduate Horticulture Students by American Society of Horticultural Science (ASHS) in 2024.
