Tessa Bennett
Research Assistant and M.S. Student
Tessa Bennett is a first year master’s student at Texas Tech University under Dr. Lewis. She recently moved from Tifton, Georgia. In Tifton, she received her bachelor’s degree in crop and soil science (Magna Cum Laude) from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. During her time as an undergraduate, she was employed by the University of Georgia campus in Tifton. There she assisted in research with tobacco, corn and small grains, and soil fertility. She attended many agronomy club meetings that aided in solidifying her interest in agricultural research. Her employment with UGA research intrigued her to want to continue her education in agricultural research, along with her internship spent as a crop scout for HolderAg Consulting in Ashburn, Georgia. She wanted to broaden her understanding on different agricultural practices by moving to and obtaining a degree in West Texas. Through this experience, she hopes to gain more experience and knowledge on sustainable crop and soil management.
